S&P 500 description - The S&P 500 Index is calculated using a base-weighted aggregate methodology. That means the level of the Index reflects the total market value of all 500 component stocks relative to a particular base period.

S&P 500 derivatives - The SPDR Trust Series I is a pooled investment designed to provide investment results that generally correspond to the price and yield performance, before fees and expenses, of the S&P 500® Index.

S&P 500 stocks - The components of the S&P 500 are selected by committee which selects the companies in the S&P 500 so they are representative of various industries in the United States economy.

S&P 500 historical data - The total market value of a company is determined by multiplying the price of its stock by the number of shares outstanding.

S&P 500 index shares funds - iShares S&P 500 Index Fund seeks investment results that correspond generally to the price and yield performance, before fees and expenses, of the S&P 500 Index.

S&P 500 options futures - Investors have used options on the S&P 500 (SPX) index for a variety of purposes over the past 18 years, including investing, hedging, asset allocation, and the management of risk.

S&P 500 quotes charts - An indexed number is used to represent the results of this calculation in order to make the value easier to work with and track over time. It is much easier to graph a chart based on indexed values than one based on actual values.

S&P 500 trading systems - The base value for the S&P 500 Index is adjusted to reflect changes in capitalization resulting from mergers, acquisitions, stock rights, substitutions, etc.
